Two Stabbers of Nus Kei Named as Suspects, Facing Death Penalty
The Maluku Regional Police have designated two individuals as suspects in the murder case of Agrapinus Rumatora, alias Nus Kei (59), the Chairman of the DPD II of the Golkar Party in Southeast Maluku. The two suspects are identified by the initials HR (28) and FU (39).
The Head of Public Relations for the Maluku Regional Police, Rositah Umasugi, explained that the suspects were named following a case reconstruction conducted by investigators on Monday night (20/4).
Previously, the two suspected perpetrators had undergone additional examinations at the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation building of the Maluku Regional Police.
“Both have provided additional statements at the Ditreskrimum building and have been designated as suspects,” she stated when met at her office on Monday.
According to her, HR and FU are charged with multiple articles carrying the threat of the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.
The pair are accused of violating Article 459 in conjunction with 20 letter C, or Article 458 paragraph (1) in conjunction with 20 letter C, or Article 262 paragraph (4) of Indonesia’s Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
Prior to being named as suspects, HR and FU were evacuated from Southeast Maluku to Ambon under tight escort by fully armed officers.
Upon arrival in Ambon, they were immediately taken to the Maluku Regional Police Headquarters after being secured at the Southeast Maluku Mobile Brigade Headquarters.
The stabbing incident took place at Karel Sadsuitubun Airport on Sunday (19/4). At that time, the victim had just arrived on Lion Air flight JT880 from Pattimura Airport around 10:45 WIT.
After disembarking from the plane, the victim was met by family and was conversing in the airport exit area. However, a few minutes later, a man wearing a red jacket and mask suddenly attacked and stabbed the victim.
The victim attempted to flee to the airport waiting area while wounded from the sharp weapon stab. However, he collapsed due to heavy bleeding.
Airport staff who witnessed the incident immediately provided assistance. The victim was then taken to the hospital by family members, but his life could not be saved.
Based on examination results, Nus Kei suffered four stab wounds to the neck, right and left chest, penetrating to the spine.
