Two vessels operated by PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) have moved away from the Strait of Hormuz area amid heightening Middle Eastern conflict. Two other vessels remain in Arab Gulf waters, awaiting conditions deemed safe enough to transit through this strategic waterway.

“Two vessels have been recorded as departing from the conflict zone: the PIS Rinjani and the PIS Paragon,” said Vega Pita, Acting Corporate Secretary of Pertamina International Shipping, in an official statement on Tuesday (10 March).

She explained that two other vessels are still operating in the Middle East region: the VLCC Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro, both located in Arab Gulf waters. These vessels are waiting for safe conditions to exit through the Strait of Hormuz.

“Both are in secure condition,” she affirmed.

Vega disclosed that the Gamsunoro vessel carries cargo belonging to third-party clients, whilst the VLCC Pertamina Pride is on a mission transporting crude oil supplies to meet domestic energy requirements.

Beyond these vessels, the energy supply chain and distribution network remain intact across both international waters and Indonesian territorial waters. This is supported by at least 345 vessels managed by various entities within the Pertamina Group.

In conducting distribution operations, Pertamina Group continues coordinating with the government. The company applies regular, alternative, and emergency methods to determine the most effective and secure supply chain schema, ensuring public energy needs remain fulfilled and distribution proceeds smoothly.

“PIS conducts intensive round-the-clock real-time monitoring of all vessel positions, crew, and personnel,” Vega stated.

The company also maintains close coordination with maritime authorities and local competent authorities to ensure the safety and security of all crew members and cargo aboard.

“Amid this highly dynamic and sensitive situation, we seek prayers and support from all Indonesian citizens for the safety of our ship crews,” she concluded.
