Israel reported casualties from retaliatory missile strikes launched by the Iranian military, with two people currently receiving medical treatment. According to AFP reporting on Sunday, 1 March 2026, the Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) stated that on Saturday, 28 February, they had evacuated a 16-year-old teenager to hospital following an Iranian missile strike. The teenager was wounded by shrapnel in the city of Kafr Qassem. In addition to the 16-year-old, Israel reported that a 50-year-old man in the city of Ka’abiyye-Tabbash was also injured by Iranian missiles. It was noted that 86 people sustained minor injuries whilst heading to shelters, whilst six others experienced anxiety-related conditions. MDA stated that its teams were transferring bedridden patients, patients using ventilators, and others from their current locations to protected facilities. MDA also reported that all 39,000 employees and volunteers of the organisation had been mobilised and were on “maximum alert”. The United States and Israel launched a series of attacks against targets in Iran on Saturday, 28 February. This action prompted rapid retaliation by Iran, which responded with missile strikes across Israeli territory. Arab Israelis, Palestinians who remained in their land following the establishment of Israel in 1948, comprise less than 20 per cent of Israel’s population of 10.1 million. Their communities frequently complain about the lack of bomb shelters in their villages and towns, which makes them more vulnerable during missile attacks than other populations in Israel.
