Two Men Caught on CCTV Stealing Motorbike in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta; Police Investigate
CCTV footage showing a motorbike theft in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta has gone viral on social media. Two suspects brazenly carried out the crime in the afternoon.
In the circulating video, viewed on Sunday (22/2/2026), the first suspect can be seen wearing a ride-hailing (ojol) driver’s jacket. He was recorded pacing back and forth several times, surveilling the victim’s motorbike parked in front of a shop.
When he returned to the scene, he was riding pillion with the second suspect. The second suspect was dropped off and immediately took the victim’s motorbike, which had its engine switched off. The first suspect then helped push the stolen motorbike away from the location.
When asked for confirmation, Jagakarsa Police Chief Kompol Nurma Dewi said the incident occurred on Thursday (19/2) at 15:35 local time on Jalan Timbul, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. The owner had originally parked the motorbike in front of a shop with the steering lock engaged.
“The stolen motorbike was parked in front of a Padang rice shop which happened to be closed, while the owner was minding a plastics shop. The motorbike had been parked there since approximately 11:30 local time with the steering lock on,” Nurma said in a statement on Sunday (22/2).
The victim only discovered the motorbike was missing when he was about to go home at around 23:30 local time. He reported the incident to police on Friday (20/2), and officers have since begun their investigation.
“The victim went straight to Jagakarsa Police Station to report the incident. At the time the suspect took the motorbike, nobody witnessed it,” she said.
