The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has reported that two prospective Indonesian Hajj pilgrims have passed away. The deceased pilgrims are Rodiyah (68) from Solo and Kamariyah Dul Tayib (85) from Pasuruan, East Java. “Thus, the number of deceased pilgrims to date is two. We pray for a good end for them,” said Kemenhaj Spokesperson Maria Assegaff during a press conference on Tuesday (28/4/2026). In addition to the deceased pilgrims, Maria also reported that 1,373 pilgrims are undergoing outpatient treatment, and 30 pilgrims have been referred to Indonesian Hajj Health Clinics. To minimise cases of seriously ill pilgrims at risk of fatality, Maria urged all pilgrims to maintain their physical condition and health. “We invite all pilgrims to be disciplined in maintaining health, getting sufficient rest, maintaining a healthy diet, and immediately reporting any health complaints to the officers,” she said. Maria believes that with collaboration between officers and the discipline of the pilgrims, the organisation of this year’s Hajj pilgrimage can proceed safely, comfortably, and smoothly. “It is also important for us to convey that the government ensures that the health aspect for pilgrims is the top priority in this year’s Hajj pilgrimage organisation,” she added. Health facilities have been prepared in layers, from departure until arrival in the Holy Land. Maria mentioned that health services for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims are currently supported by a total of 40 clinics in Mecca and 5 clinics in the Madinah area. In addition, each flight group (kloter) is equipped with one doctor and one health worker.
