Two Health Workers Killed by KKB in West Papua, Seven People Added to Wanted List
Four health workers in Tambrauw Regency, Southwest Papua, were attacked by unidentified individuals (OTK). Police have confirmed that the attack, which killed two health workers, was carried out by an armed criminal group (KKB). The attack on the health workers occurred in Jokbu Village, Bamusbama District, Tambrauw, on Monday (16/3) around 11:37 WIT. The two deceased victims were identified by their initials YL and YEB. The four victims were initially passing through the location of the incident. However, the four victims, who were riding together on two motorbikes, were suddenly blocked by the perpetrators. “An interception occurred against four motorbike riders by several OTK. We refer to them as OTK because investigations are still ongoing,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Southwest Papua Regional Police, Kompol Jenny Hengkelare, as quoted by detikJogja on Tuesday (17/3/2026). Police have confirmed that KKB was behind the murder of the two health workers. This was determined after investigators examined 12 witnesses. “We confirm that the murder of health workers YL and YEB was the work of KKB,” said Kompol Jenny. Police then named seven members of the armed criminal group (KKB) involved in the murder of the two health workers. The seven KKB members are now on the wanted persons list (DPO). “Tambrauw Police Resort has named seven wanted persons or DPO suspects in the murder case in Bamusbama District, Tambrauw,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Southwest Papua Regional Police, Kompol Jenny Hengkelar, during a press conference at the Southwest Papua Regional Police Headquarters on Wednesday (25/3/2025).
