Two Defendants in K3 Extortion Case Request Trial Postponement Due to "Not Having Studied Yet"
JAKARTA - Two defendants in the alleged extortion case concerning the processing of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) certificates at the Ministry of Manpower, Temurila and Miki Mahfud, requested a postponement of the examination during the trial hearing.
Before the panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor), they admitted to not being ready as they had only received the information requesting their statements on Wednesday (29 April 2026) at 22:00 WIB, and had not yet studied the case materials.
“So, in layman’s terms, we haven’t studied yet. So we need time. In layman’s terms, to study, the outline, Your Honour,” said Miki Mahfud during the hearing at the Jakarta Tipikor Court on Thursday (30 April 2026).
“Yes, perhaps the contents of the BAP, Your Honour. Because so far, we’ve been studying other people’s BAPs; our own BAP might be a bit forgotten, so perhaps we need to read it again,” he explained.
The panel of judges then assessed the request as part of the defendants’ unpreparedness for the examination that day.
“Indeed, the panel has not yet had the chance to inform that today’s agenda is the opening statement and the examination of the defendants. This can also be linked to the defendants’ mental unpreparedness,” stated the judge.
The examination hearing for Temurila and Miki Mahfud has been rescheduled for Monday, 4 May 2026.
Meanwhile, the subsequent agenda for this case includes the reading of the indictment by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) on 18 May 2026, followed by a series of replicas, duplicates, and a verdict in early June 2026.
The panel of judges emphasised that the entire trial process will continue according to the established schedule to ensure the legal proceedings are effective and do not drag on.
In addition, hearings for the other defendants in the same case have also been scheduled in stages throughout early May 2026 at the Central Jakarta District Court.
