Two defendants in the murder case of Brigadir Muhammad Nurhadi have filed an appeal with the West Nusa Tenggara High Court against the first-instance court’s verdict.

The Spokesperson for Mataram District Court, Kelik Trimargo, confirmed that both defendants, I Made Yogi Purusa Utama and I Gde Aris Chandra Widianto, have submitted their appeals. “Yes, both of them have just declared their intention to appeal. Their appeal briefs have not yet been submitted,” he stated on Tuesday (17 March).

Following the defendants’ appeal filing, Kelik noted that the prosecution also filed a similar appeal. “The prosecution has also filed an appeal,” he said.

Suhartono, representing Made Yogi’s legal team, confirmed that they had submitted their appeal notice. “We still need to prepare the appeal brief, which is currently being compiled,” he said.

He stated that his client had multiple grounds for pursuing this further legal action. According to him, throughout the trial proceedings, there were no concrete facts presented that definitively demonstrated that his client murdered Brigadir Nurhadi.

Suhartono assured that his team would set out all these considerations comprehensively in the appeal brief.

In the first-instance verdict, presiding judge Moh. Sandi Iramaya sentenced Made Yogi to 14 years imprisonment, finding him guilty of murder and obstruction of investigation. For defendant Aris Chandra, the judge imposed an eight-year prison sentence, finding him guilty of aggravated assault.

Previously, Brigadir Muhammad Nurhadi, a member of the Internal Affairs Division (Bid Propam) of the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, died following alleged assault. He was discovered dead at the bottom of a pond at Vila Tekek in the Gili Trawangan area, North Lombok, in April 2025.

Three individuals have been designated as suspects in this case: two former senior officers of Brigadir Nurhadi, a colonel and a junior officer, as well as a female individual.
