Two arrested for cheating

BOGOR (JP): The Cibinong police, Bogor, arrested two suspects who had allegedly cheated their victims out of millions of rupiah.

Cibinong police chief First Insp. Fridon said on Monday that the police arrested Uri Ilyas bin Patja, 40, and Badrudin bin Namin, 42, at their separate homes in Cibinong on Saturday and Sunday.

Both suspects had tricked their victims into giving their money to them on a promise it would be multiplied, but that did not happen and instead the suspects used the money.

Fridon said the police, acting on a tip from one of his victims, raided Uri's home at Naggewer village, Cibinong, on Saturday night.

The police confiscated some evidence from Uri's home, including a cloth shroud, complete with animal bones and agate stones.

According to Fridon, Uri admitted to the police that he had tricked one of his victims, Uta Sutami, into giving him as much as Rp 120 million.

Meanwhile, Badrudin bin Namin alias Sech Maulana Yusuf was arrested at his home in Pakan Sari, Cibinong. Badrudin told the police that he had cheated 14 people, and taken around Rp 100 million from them. (21)
