Turkish Electric Vehicle Manufacturer to Utilise CATL Bedrock Chassis
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Turkish electric vehicle manufacturer Togg has partnered with a subsidiary of CATL to launch new electric cars using the CATL Bedrock chassis in 2027. According to a CarNewsChina broadcast on Thursday (7/5), the signing of the cooperation agreement was attended by Togg CEO Gürcan Karakaş, CATL Marketing President Tan Libin, and Yang Hanbing, Executive Director of Contemporary Amperex Intelligent Technology (CAIT), a subsidiary of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL). Based on the cooperation agreement between Türkiye’nin Otomobili Girişim Grubu (Togg) and CAIT, the two companies will jointly develop three vehicle models based on Togg’s new B-segment platform. The first vehicle model resulting from the collaboration between the two companies is scheduled to be mass-produced in 2027. As Turkey’s leading electric vehicle brand, Togg will lead the design of the user experience, vehicle requirement definitions, and digital architecture. The CATL Bedrock chassis will provide the hardware foundation, enabling Togg to focus resources on digital innovation and user-centric features. By separating the upper and lower body of the vehicle, the use of this system allows for parallel development, shortening the time to bring new vehicles to market. In testing in China, CATL’s CIIC platform demonstrated the ability to achieve a range of 1,000 km (CLTC cycle), energy consumption of 10.5 kWh per 100 km, fast charging to reach 300 km in 5 minutes, and a battery pack efficiency of 75 percent. CAIT has been developing the skateboard chassis for several years. The Neta S Wagon is the first production vehicle to adopt the CIIC system in 2024.
