Turkey Reviews Russia's Position on Meeting with Ukraine
Ankara (ANTARA) - Turkey is reviewing Russia’s position on plans for a leaders’ level meeting to discuss Ukraine and will continue to cooperate with relevant parties, a Turkish government source told RIA Novosti. Speaking at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that his government is ready to host leaders’ talks on Ukraine at the leadership level. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said the government’s offer had been conveyed to Russia during high-level meetings. “We have carefully studied the Russian side’s approach to the possibility of a leaders’ level meeting. Turkey, as before, is ready to encourage dialogue and will continue meetings with all parties to find a mutually acceptable solution,” the source said. Since the beginning of the year, delegations from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States have held three rounds of talks. The most recent talks took place in Geneva on 17-18 February. However, in April, Russia stated there was a pause in the trilateral peace process due to the current situation in the Middle East.
