Trump warns of Iran's destruction if conflict continues
Washington (ANTARA) - United States President Donald Trump has warned that Iran’s civilisation could be “permanently wiped out” amid the ongoing military operations between the US, Israel, and Iran.
In a post on the Truth Social platform on Tuesday, Trump stated that such destruction could happen soon, although he claimed he does not want it.
“The entire civilisation could disappear tonight and never return,” Trump wrote.
Nevertheless, he added that Iran’s leadership still has the opportunity to prevent that scenario.
Previously, on 30 March, Trump stated that the United States would “completely destroy” Iran’s power plants, oil fields, Kharg Island, and desalination facilities if no peace agreement is reached and the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened.
He also warned of possible actions he called a “power plant and bridge destruction day” on 7 April if Tehran continues to close that shipping route.
On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched attacks on targets in Iran, including in Tehran, which caused damage and civilian casualties. Iran then retaliated by attacking Israeli territory as well as US military facilities in the Middle East.
The escalation of the conflict has halted most shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, the world’s main route for oil and liquefied natural gas distribution, which has driven up fuel prices in various countries.
