Trump Urges Iran to Seriously End the War After Commander Closing Strait of Hormuz Killed
US President Donald Trump has warned Iran to seriously engage in talks aimed at ending the war. This call was made by Trump after Tehran publicly rejected the US offer to resolve the conflict.
Quoted by AFP on Thursday (26/3/2026), Trump warned Iran to immediately take negotiations to end the war seriously “before it is too late”. Trump’s warning came as Israel stated it had killed the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy, describing him as “directly responsible” for the narrowing of the Strait of Hormuz since the outbreak of the war.
Hopes for ending the US-Israel war with Iran through negotiations, which has ravaged much of the region, have increased after Washington reportedly submitted a peace plan to Tehran. This was subsequently denied by the Islamic Republic, stating that the two sides were not talking.
However, Pakistan confirmed that it was facilitating indirect talks between the US and Iran by conveying messages. It was stated that the American plan, consisting of 15 points, was being “considered” by Tehran.
“They had better get serious soon, before it is too late, because once that happens, THERE IS NO WAY BACK, and it will not be pleasant!” Trump said on his social media.
He stated that Iran has been militarily destroyed, with no chance of recovery.
Iran’s Foreign Minister previously denied that his side was negotiating with the Trump administration. However, they acknowledged that messages were being exchanged through friendly countries.
“We want an end to the war on our own terms,” said Abbas Araghchi on state television.
Islamabad has been mentioned as an intermediary, given its long-standing relations with its neighbour Iran and the United States, as well as its regional network of contacts.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that “brother countries” Turkey, Egypt, and others also support the process. Meanwhile, the Gulf Cooperation Council stated it wants to be involved in any talks.
