Trump Urges China, France and Other Nations to Send Warships to Strait of Hormuz
Washington — US President Donald Trump on Saturday called on China, France, Japan, South Korea, Britain and other nations to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the waterway remains open for international shipping.
“I hope China, France, Japan, South Korea, Britain and others affected by these artificial restrictions will send their ships there so that the Strait of Hormuz will no longer be a threat to a country that has been completely destroyed,” Trump said via Truth Social.
Trump also vowed to continue dropping bombs on Iran’s coast and “continuously fire at Iranian ships and boats”.
He stated that the United States is taking such action to guarantee safe and free passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
On 28 February 2026, the US and Israel launched a combined attack against Iran, including Tehran, causing infrastructure damage and loss of life. Iran subsequently launched retaliatory strikes against Israeli territory and US military bases across the Middle East.
The escalation in Iran has triggered a de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route for oil and liquefied petroleum gas exports from Persian Gulf nations to global markets. The shipping disruption has also affected oil export and production levels in the Gulf region.
