Trump to End Iran War Soon, No Deal Necessary
US President Donald Trump stated that US forces will end operations in Iran “soon,” referring to a timeframe of two to three weeks. When asked at the White House on Tuesday (31/3) about the impact of high fuel prices since the war began on 28 February, Trump said that “All I have to do is leave Iran, and we will do so soon.” “We are finishing this job, and I think maybe in two weeks, maybe a few days longer, to finish this job,” Trump remarked. Trump also stated that the cessation of US attacks on Iran does not depend on reaching any agreement with Iran. “They don’t need to make a deal with me,” he told reporters in the Oval Office at the White House, as reported by AFP news agency on Wednesday (1/4/2026). “When we feel that they, for a long time, will be stuck in the Stone Age and unable to create nuclear weapons, then we will leave,” he said. “Whether we have a deal or not, it’s irrelevant,” he snapped. Trump also repeated his call for countries to “get” oil by going to the Strait of Hormuz themselves. He made this statement after many allies rejected the US call for military assistance to free tanker traffic in the waters closed by Iran. “If France or another country wants to get oil or gas, they will go through the Strait of Hormuz, they will go straight there, and they will be able to take care of themselves,” he said. “What happens with that strait, we will not interfere,” Trump snapped. Separately, in a Truth Social post on Tuesday morning local time, Trump urged countries facing fuel shortages to “go and get your own oil” in the Strait of Hormuz. “The US will not be there to help you anymore, just as you were not there for us. Iran is basically destroyed. The hardest part is done. Go and get your own oil,” he said.
