Trump to consider lifting sanctions on China for buying Iranian oil
Moscow (ANTARA) - After meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing for two days, US President Donald Trump said he would consider sanctions against Chinese companies that have recently been buying oil from Iran.
“We discussed it and I will decide in the next few days. We seriously talked about it,” Trump told reporters on Friday.
Regarding Iran’s proposals for further negotiations, Trump said Iran’s proposals for resolving the conflict with the United States were unacceptable.
“I have seen it (Iran’s proposal) and if I already don’t like its first sentence, then I will throw away the proposal. (The first sentence of Iran’s proposal) It is an unacceptable sentence,” said Trump.
Tehran will never obtain nuclear weapons, he stressed.
“No. Twenty years is enough. However, the level of guarantees from them must be truly 20 years,” said Trump, commenting on Iran’s desire for a 20-year moratorium on uranium enrichment.
If Iran does not transfer its enriched uranium reserves to the United States, then the United States will “take it” itself, said Trump.
Meanwhile, the current ceasefire that the United States is implementing against Iran, said Trump, was done at the request of third countries.
“We are actually doing a ceasefire at the request of other countries. I actually wouldn’t agree to it, but we did it as a form of assistance to Pakistan, great people,” said Trump.
