Trump Speaks Out on Investigating Mysterious Deaths of Nuclear Scientists: This is a Very Serious Matter
US President Donald Trump has ordered an investigation into a series of mysterious deaths and disappearances of several scientists with access to strategic programmes, including nuclear and space research. Trump conveyed this to reporters on Thursday (local time), emphasising that the case is a serious concern for the government. “I just came out of a meeting on this. This is a pretty serious thing,” he said. He hopes the series of events is random. Nevertheless, Trump stressed that the investigation will be conducted intensively in the near future. “I hope it’s random, but we’ll find out in the next week and a half. Some of them are very important people, and we’ll look into it in a short time,” he said, as reported by RT. Since 2023, at least ten individuals involved in advanced research have been reported dead or missing under unexplained circumstances. These cases have triggered various speculations in the public sphere, from suspicions of foreign espionage to sensitive issues related to secret research. One case is the disappearance of Steven Garcia (48), a government contractor at the Kansas City National Security Campus, which produces most of the non-nuclear components for US nuclear weapons. He was reported missing from his home in Albuquerque in August 2025, leaving behind personal items such as his phone, wallet, and keys. Another case affected retired Major General William McCasland (68), former commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He was reported missing from his residence in New Mexico in February 2026. In the emergency report, his wife stated that McCasland “planned not to be found”. In addition, two individuals associated with Los Alamos National Laboratory, Anthony Chavez and Melissa Casias, were also reported missing in 2025 after leaving their homes without taking personal belongings. In the space sector, Monica Jacinto Reza (60), a director at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, was reported missing while hiking in California in June 2025. Meanwhile, two other scientists were reported dead without detailed explanations of the causes, namely Frank Maiwald and Michael Hicks. There is no suspicion of foul play in both cases, and the causes of death have not been announced to the public.
