Trump signals "peaceful takeover" of Cuba by the United States
Washington - US President Donald Trump on Friday (27 February) suggested that Washington could undertake a “peaceful takeover” of Cuba.
“The Cuban government is talking with us, and they are in big trouble,” Trump told journalists before departing for a trip to Texas.
The US President stated that Cuba is currently without financial resources. “They have nothing right now, but they are talking with us, and maybe we will do a peaceful takeover of Cuba. We might do a peaceful takeover of Cuba,” Trump said.
He also stated that Cuba is “experiencing very severe failure.”
“Since I was young, I have heard about Cuba, and everyone wants it to change. I can see that happening,” he said.
He reiterated that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is conducting talks with Cuba.
“They have no money, they have no oil, they have no food, and right now it is truly a country in big trouble, and they want our help,” Trump said.
