Trump says attacks on Iran could resume
Washington (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump stated that the condition for continuing attacks on Iran is if Tehran attempts to impose an unfavourable agreement for the US. Trump emphasised that the US holds a dominant position in the negotiations. According to Axios, reported on Thursday (28 May) citing US officials, the United States and Iran have agreed on a 60-day draft agreement, although Trump has not yet given final approval. ‘Ultimately, the limit is an agreement that will not benefit us, as you know I am handling it and we will see later; and that is what I am doing,’ Trump told Fox News. ‘I am negotiating, they are negotiating, they are very good negotiators, they are cunning; but in the end, we hold all the cards,’ he said. On 28 February, the US and Israel launched joint strikes on several targets in Iran, causing damage and civilian casualties. On 7 April, Washington and Tehran announced a temporary ceasefire for two weeks, followed by negotiations in Islamabad that ended without result. The US has begun imposing blockades on Iranian ports. President Donald Trump subsequently extended the ceasefire to give Iran time to submit a peace proposal.
