Trump and Khamenei Not Yet Agreed on US-Iran Framework, Reports Say
Moscow (ANTARA) - President Donald Trump and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei have yet to finalise the US-Iran framework agreement, according to a Monday report by The Telegraph. Although a general framework has been drafted, final approval is still required from both leaders, the report cited an unnamed US official as saying. Meanwhile, a source in the Persian Gulf region told The Telegraph that regional leaders have urged Trump to accept a ceasefire proposal to stabilise the situation. Previously, on Sunday (24 May), Fox News reported the framework agreement was ‘95 per cent complete’, though negotiations were still debating wording related to the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran’s nuclear material supplies. On 28 February, the US and Israel launched attacks on Iranian targets, killing over 3,000 people. On 8 April, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire. However, further talks in Islamabad concluded without clear results. Despite no announcement of renewed hostilities, the US has imposed a blockade on Iranian ports.
