Tropical Cyclone NURI Emerges; List of Indonesian Regions Affected by Weather
Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has detected the emergence of Tropical Cyclone NURI. A number of Indonesian regions are experiencing weather impacts from this cyclone.
“Tropical Cyclone NURI developed from Tropical Cyclone Seed 95W and reached tropical cyclone intensity on 10 March 2026 at 18:00 UTC (11 March 2026 at 01:00 WIB). The current position is in the Pacific Ocean north of Papua,” BMKG stated on its Instagram account on Wednesday (11 March 2026).
BMKG explained that the maximum wind speed of Tropical Cyclone NURI is expected to remain persistent over the next 24 hours. The cyclone is moving northeast away from Indonesian territory. A number of areas in Indonesia are being impacted.
“The presence of this system is causing indirect impacts on rainfall conditions and Indonesian waters, particularly in the form of moderate to heavy rainfall potential and also increased wave heights in several regions,” it continued.
The indirect impacts over the next 24 hours until 12 March 2026 at 07:00 WIB are as follows. Below is a list of Indonesian regions being affected:
