Triono Junoasmono Officially Inaugurated as IABA Chairman for 2025-2029 Term
Triono Junoasmono has been officially inaugurated as Chairman of the Indonesia Association of British Alumni (IABA). The association has pledged to continue supporting the realisation of Golden Indonesia 2045.
The inauguration ceremony, held under the theme ‘Making an Impact for the Nation’, was led by Executive Chairman Azan Izhar and saw the swearing-in of more than 150 new board members at the Menara BRILiaN Ballroom, Gatot Subroto, Jakarta, on Saturday (14/2/2026).
Triono Junoasmono confirmed that IABA would take a strategic role in supporting the national development agenda, particularly through economic strengthening, accelerating the development of superior human resources, and contributing towards the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision in alignment with the government’s Asta Cita programme.
He stressed the importance of cross-sector collaboration so that the British education alumni network can serve as a catalyst for solutions to various national challenges, ranging from improved competitiveness and innovation to strengthening the talent ecosystem.
“IABA is committed to ensuring our alumni network does not remain merely a community, but serves as a driver of collaboration capable of delivering tangible impact. The global excellence of our alumni must be translated into programmes and strategic partnerships that strengthen Indonesia’s development,” said Triono Junoasmono in a written statement on Monday (16/2/2026).
The inauguration of the IABA Board for the 2025-2029 term served as a moment of reflection and consolidation of the role of British alumni in contributing more broadly to national development.
He stated that in the spirit of ‘Making an Impact for the Nation’, IABA declared its readiness to strengthen partnerships and collaborative programmes that address the real needs of society and support the national strategic agenda.
“During this term, IABA is committed to expanding its cross-sector network whilst strengthening its position as a strategic partner of the government,” he explained.
Through closer collaboration, IABA is expected to deliver concrete solutions to national challenges. Support from national figures, he noted, reinforces IABA’s role as a bridge for alumni contributions to the nation.
The inauguration was attended by national figures and diplomatic representatives, underscoring the substantial support for IABA’s role in strengthening the contributions of British education alumni to national development.
A number of prominent figures attended and delivered remarks during the inauguration proceedings, including:
- Head of the Presidential Staff Office and Chairman of the IABA Advisory Board, Muhammad Qodari
- Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Brian Yuliarto
- Deputy Minister of Finance and IABA Advisory Board member, Juda Agung
- Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Kingdom, concurrently accredited to Ireland and the International Maritime Organization, and IABA Advisory Board member, Desra Percaya
- Chairman of the IABA Supervisory Board, Irnanda Laksanawan
The inauguration was also attended by board members and honorary figures who expressed their appreciation and support, including:
- Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya
- Special Assistant to the President for Communication and Policy Analysis, and IABA Advisory Board member, Dirgayuza Setiawan
- Constitutional Court Justice of the Republic of Indonesia, Arsul Sani
- Secretary-General of the Ministry of Finance, Heru Pambudi
- Expert Staff of the Ministry of Culture, Masyitoh Annisa Ramadhani Alkatiri

- Representatives from Mata Garuda LPDP, the French Alumni Association, the American Alumni Association, FAIR, DoctrineX, and all British alumni
The presence of these national figures reinforced the message of the importance of cross-sector synergy in fostering an alumni network that delivers impact and is oriented towards Indonesia’s advancement.
Meanwhile, IABA Secretary-General Aldian Vounthougerenth Sitompul said more than 150 board members were officially inaugurated at the event.
He affirmed that the division of portfolios and work programmes for the board had been designed to align with the government’s Asta Cita Programme, ensuring that IABA’s contributions are directed and relevant to national development needs.
“More than 150 board members were inaugurated today, with portfolios aligned to the government’s Asta Cita Programme. In line with our vision and mission, IABA will be present and ready to collaborate with anyone to build the nation,” said Aldian.
A similar sentiment was expressed by the Chairman of the IABA Inauguration Public Relations and Publications Division, Rheza Ariftha Gentha. He added that IABA wanted to ensure this spirit of collaboration is communicated widely.
“IABA wants to ensure this spirit of collaboration is communicated widely, so that more parties can connect and participate in programmes that deliver impact,” he said.
Under its new leadership, IABA reaffirmed its commitment to delivering tangible contributions through strategic collaboration and sustainable programmes aligned with the government’s agenda, particularly in developing superior human resources and future talent.
IABA believes that a strong alumni network, when managed in a directed and collaborative manner, can serve as an accelerator for innovation whilst strengthening national capacity.
“In the spirit of ‘Making an Impact for the Nation’, IABA also declares its readiness to continue expanding partnerships and delivering collaborative programmes that provide direct benefits to society, whilst strengthening the foundations towards Golden Indonesia 2045,” he concluded.
