Twin girls from Trenggalek Regency, East Java, Nur Khusnul Khotimah and Nur Uswatun Khasanah, have had an unfortunate fate due to losing their mother’s love. Known as Imah and Sanah, they have chosen to attend junior high school at the Integrated People’s School (SRT) 50 Trenggalek. This choice was deemed appropriate as their father, Agus Sugono, sells cimol at Trenggalek Square with an unstable income. Meanwhile, their mother Karyatun is believed to be working outside the city. Imah and Sanah have not seen Karyatun for a long time. “The last time I saw her was in fourth grade. After that, never again,” Imah said on Sunday, 24 May 2026. Since then, Imah and Sanah have lived with their father and younger sibling. Imah recounted that their mother’s attitude changed after working away from home. Their mother has never sent money to the family. Imah revealed that her mother has been indifferent towards her children. On one occasion, the mother returned to their hometown, but Karyatun chose to stay at her parents’ house in the same area. Imah and Sanah have tried to meet their mother, but their presence was rejected. “Mum doesn’t want to see us. She even tells people she doesn’t know us. We’ve been discarded like trash,” Imah said, her voice trembling. Despite their fractured family, Imah and Sanah refuse to dwell in sorrow for too long. They have chosen to rise above it and stay motivated to complete their formal education. Imah and Sanah share the same ambition: to become entrepreneurs. They aim to help their father achieve a better life and economic stability. “We’ve always sold small items like risol. We want to help Dad earn money,” Imah said. Currently, Imah and Sanah are studying at SRT 50 Trenggalek to pursue their dreams. Since enrolling at the school, the twins have said they no longer worry about school supplies or meals. “Everything is provided here. I can eat well every day. I’m very happy at the People’s School,” Imah said.
