Travelling Home Together with SOEs: BRI Jakarta Regional Office II Facilitates Thousands of Homebound Travellers to Central and East Java
Jakarta — BRI’s Jakarta Regional Office II has dispatched 2,750 homebound travellers through the “Safe Journey, Sharing Hope” programme, a collaboration between BRI and the State-Owned Enterprises Committee (BP BUMN).
During the departure ceremony held on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, BRI Jakarta Regional Office II mobilised a total of 55 buses across 17 departure points. Of these, 26 buses carrying 1,300 travellers departed from the main point at BRI Towers, Jakarta.
Susanto, Regional Micro Banking Head of BRI Jakarta Regional Office II, revealed that the office had increased its quota following high enthusiasm among customers wanting to return to their hometowns in areas including Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, and Surabaya.
“Customer enthusiasm is very high and has increased compared to previous years. Initially, we planned 40 buses for 2,000 travellers, but because registrations reached 2,750 people, we expanded the fleet to 55 buses,” said Susanto following the departure ceremony at BRI Towers on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
Participants Greet the Initiative with Enthusiasm
Joy was evident among programme participants. Endang, 60, a housewife from Bekasi heading to Kebumen, said she was greatly assisted. Having registered with help from her nephew, she noted that she had frequently participated in BRI’s free homebound travel programmes.
“I’m very happy to be able to return home safely. The registration process was also assisted by family members, so it was easier,” said Endang.
Similar sentiments were felt by Nahrowi, 50, a groceries trader from Pancoran, Tebet, who brought his wife and two children to return to Yogyakarta. For Nahrowi, this was his first experience participating in BRI’s free homebound travel programme.
“I’m very happy; this is the first time our family has participated. The facilities are excellent, and we also received matching uniforms,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tarno, 57, a farmer from North Bekasi who departed with his son for Wonogiri, also appreciated BRI’s initiative. For him, the free homebound travel represented a comfortable transportation solution for migrant workers like himself.
Safety as a Priority
Susanto added that, as part of Danantara, BRI is committed to providing safe transportation facilities. This initiative is expected to help the government reduce the congestion of private vehicles on roads whilst mitigating accident risks.
The company ensured that all vehicles had passed safety inspections and that drivers were in good condition. Coordination with relevant parties was also conducted intensively to ensure passenger safety standards were maintained throughout the journey.
“This programme is designed not only as a cost-free transportation facility but also to maintain safety standards from vehicle compliance to driver readiness,” said Susanto.
Nationally, BRI provided 100 buses for 5,000 homebound travellers. The significant contribution from Jakarta Regional Office II underscores the company’s role as a trusted partner of the community in every phase of life.
Sharing Joy During Ramadan
Beyond facilitating safe homebound travel, BRI consistently channelled assistance to communities as part of its corporate social responsibility. Through the “BRI Cares” programme, BRI Jakarta Regional Office II implemented the “Sharing Joy Together with BRI” initiative. Through this programme, BRI distributed food packages to members of the media who have been strategic partners of BRI in Jakarta Region II.
The food packages, containing essentials such as rice, cooking oil, and sugar, are part of 279,000 food packages distributed by BRI across various regions in Indonesia. Distribution was conducted simultaneously by 18 BRI Regional Offices throughout Indonesia, involving BRI Group workers. BRI also provided aid to 8,500 orphans across various orphanages distributed nationwide.
