JAKARTA — The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has opened a motorcycle deposit service at local police stations for members of the public undertaking the Eid return journey in 2026.

Deputy Police Chief General Dedi Prasetyo stated that the service forms part of the security arrangements for Operation Ketupat 2026, designed to provide peace of mind for those leaving their homes during the Eid holiday period.

“The police will also provide motorcycle deposit services at local police stations for members of the public who will be undertaking the return journey,” said Dedi when met at PTIK Building, Jakarta, Monday (2 March 2026).

In addition to the vehicle deposit service, Polri will optimise its 110 hotline to receive complaints, emergency reports, and serve public needs throughout the return period and reverse traffic flow.

A total of 161,243 combined personnel have been deployed to secure the Eid holiday period of 1447 Hijriah. Polri has also positioned 2,746 posts comprising 1,624 security posts, 779 service posts, and 343 integrated posts.

These thousands of posts will secure 185,608 facilities, ranging from mosques, Eid prayer locations, shopping centres, terminals, railway stations, ports, airports, to tourist attractions.

For managing return and reverse traffic flows, Polri has prepared various traffic engineering measures on toll roads, including odd-even vehicle systems, one-way lanes, contraflow arrangements, delaying systems, and buffer zones at ports.

“Additionally, the police have also readied rapid response teams to handle contingency situations,” Dedi added.

The figure represents a 1.75 percent decrease compared to 2025, which saw 146.4 million people undertake the journey. Nevertheless, Dedi emphasised that Polri continues to anticipate the possibility of increased traveller numbers in the field, particularly given that this year’s return period coincides with the Nyepi Day holiday.

“Because this activity overlaps with the Nyepi Day holiday,” he stressed.
