Transport Minister will not allow cargo vehicles to violate joint decision during Lebaran holiday period
The Transport Minister (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi has declared that he will not permit cargo transport to violate the regulations stipulated in the joint decision (SKB) concerning cargo transport restrictions during the 2026 Lebaran holiday period.
The Transport Minister continues to find many non-food cargo trucks violating the operational restrictions outlined in the Joint Decision (SKB) whilst monitoring ferry services at Bandar Bakau Jaya (BBJ) port, Serang Regency, Banten, on Sunday (15/3) evening.
The violations were discovered during the Transport Minister’s direct inspection, accompanied by Banten Provincial Police Chief Inspector General Hengki, to ensure the smooth operation of the 2026 Lebaran holiday travel surge on Sunday evening.
“The SKB already sets out which operations are permitted and which are not. We are concerned about several logistics companies that do not comply with the applicable SKB provisions,” said Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi.
The Transport Minister emphasised that his office will not allow such violations to disrupt the holiday travel flow. Coordination with police authorities continues to be conducted to impose strict measures in the field against fleets that do not comply with regulations.
“For field operations, we have entrusted this to the police. However, rest assured that we will address this appropriately,” he said.
Field personnel are now directing trucks in violation to a special parking holding area to prevent them from blocking the main routes. This measure has been taken to prioritise vehicles carrying holiday travellers and essential goods logistics.
Despite the violations, the Transport Minister confirmed that there are no severe traffic congestions in the BBJ port area.
The vehicle queues currently occurring remain within normal limits and simply represent the process of waiting for ferry schedules.
“Ferry operations are running smoothly. Vehicles are certainly queuing to board the ferries, but everything remains within normal limits and there are no queues lasting for days,” explained the Transport Minister.
Currently, BBJ port has deployed 12 vessels focused on servicing large logistics vehicles in vehicle categories VII, VIII, and IX to ease congestion at other ferry crossing points.
