Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi predicts that around 283,000 vehicles will return to Jakarta on the peak of the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah return flow, expected to occur on Tuesday (24/3/2026) today. “On this peak return flow, we hope there will be no congestion like what happened during the outbound peak on 18 March,” said Dudy in Semarang on Tuesday. During the outbound peak, 270,000 vehicles were recorded passing through the toll road from west to east. Therefore, Dudy urged the public to plan their return trips carefully and make use of the available rest area facilities. On this peak return flow, toll road operators have been forced to temporarily close two rest areas, namely at KM 62B and KM 52B, due to density. In addition, a system of opening and closing is being applied at several rest areas to prevent vehicle build-up. Meanwhile, National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that during the 2026 Eid outbound flow, 2.3 million vehicles left Jakarta via toll roads. He urged outbound travellers using tolls to utilise all provided rest facilities and not to push themselves if feeling tired. Traffic engineering in the form of a one-way system for the return flow has been implemented since Tuesday afternoon from KM 414 Kalikangkung Toll Gate, Semarang, to Cikampek Utara in West Java. In the Cirebon area, the Cirebon City Police Resort is strengthening traffic security on the Pantura arterial route as well as the Palikanci Toll to anticipate an increase in vehicle volume. Cirebon City Police Chief AKBP Eko Iskandar said that until Tuesday morning, traffic flow was still monitored as busy but smooth. On the Pantura route, vehicles are dominated by motorcycles with an average speed of 20–40 km/h, while on the Palikanci Toll, vehicle speeds reach 80–100 km/h.
