Transport Minister Offers 18 Per Cent Discount on Aeroplane Tickets for Lebaran 2026 Exodus
The Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub) is preparing a price reduction on aeroplane tickets of up to 18 per cent for the Lebaran 1447 Hijriah (2026) exodus period. This aeroplane ticket stimulus is intended to be enjoyed by those travelling home for the holiday season.
“The government has provided a stimulus for aeroplane tickets with a discount of up to 18 per cent,” said Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, following a meeting to prepare for the 2026 exodus at Bank NTB Syariah alongside NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal on Saturday (28 February 2026).
Dudy stated that the issue of allegedly high aeroplane ticket prices needs to be viewed comprehensively. According to him, ticket prices can be influenced by supply and demand. During the Lebaran exodus, demand often surges compared with the readiness of aeroplane fleets.
“This often causes ticket prices to rise sharply. So this is a supply and demand issue where there are circumstances where tickets may seem somewhat expensive,” he said.
Dudy ensured that the discount provision would be strictly monitored so that the public truly feels a reduction in ticket prices during the Lebaran 2026 exodus period.
“But we assure that the implementation of this stimulus will be strictly monitored so that the public can truly feel that there is indeed a reduction in ticket prices,” he stressed.
The Ministry of Transport, Dudy said, will monitor public complaints regarding ticket prices. This is done to ensure whether high prices are caused by genuinely increased fares or by the flight routes chosen.
Dudy gave an example: in some cases, ticket prices appear high because passengers choose transit routes through other cities rather than selecting direct flights.
“So not direct flights, which then results in tickets appearing expensive, when in fact the flight route selection is via transit through other cities,” he explained.
In addition to the aeroplane ticket discount, the government is also preparing a free exodus programme for land and sea transport modes, including routes to NTB.
“We are preparing free exodus services for land transport, trains, and also sea routes. This includes routes to NTB,” Dudy concluded.
