Jakarta, KOMPAS.com – To welcome Idulfitri 1447 H/2026 M, PT Transportasi Jakarta confirms readiness of free services for the public. This policy is part of the commitment of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in supporting mobility of residents during major religious holidays, including Lebaran, which is synonymous with silaturahmi and family tourism. Welfizon Yuza, Chief Executive Officer of PT Transjakarta, said the policy of free fares is awaiting an official decision from the DKI Jakarta Department of Transportation via a head-of-department decree. ‘All Transjakarta services will be included in the free scheme, from BRT, non-BRT, to Transjabodetabek routes. In terms of the payment system, the fare will still show as Rp 1 for technical transaction reasons, even though in substance the service is free for customers,’ said Welfizon in a written statement, Wednesday (4/3/2026). In addition to free fares, Transjakarta will also adjust operating hours on the first day of Lebaran. The service is expected to commence operations at 09:00 or 10:00 WIB so that drivers and staff can perform Eid al-Fitr prayers first. Another focus is strengthening routes to preferred destinations during the Lebaran holiday. Transjakarta anticipates a surge of passengers to popular tourist locations such as Ancol, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Ragunan Zoo, and the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area. Additional fleets will be on standby to ensure smooth travel for those wishing to holiday with family. ‘We are also studying several Transjabodetabek routes to Alam Sutera or to Bogor. We will look at demand and later we will adjust the number of vehicles according to the needs,’ said Welfizon. Welfizon predicts Ragunan will be one of the busiest points, particularly on the second and third days of Lebaran. ‘The number of additional vehicles will be situational. In general, total passenger demand across all routes during Lebaran tends to fall, so fleets can be redeployed to reinforce routes to tourist centres,’ he said. On the other hand, the trend of using the Free Service Card (KLG) shows a significant uptick. In 2025, more than 76,000 new registrants were recorded, with total usage reaching 25 million transactions. ‘One of the benefits of the Free Service Card is that it can strengthen silaturahmi. So visiting family or relatives becomes much easier now that there is the Free Service Card,’ he said.
