Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) will increase bus fleets to a number of tourist destinations during the Lebaran 2026 holiday as an anticipation of rising passenger numbers. TransJakarta chief executive, Welfizon Yuza, said some routes to be strengthened include towards the Ancol area, Taman Mini, Ragunan, and Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK). ‘So to Ancol, then also to Taman Mini, Ragunan, perhaps also PIK, because there is already a PIK route. These are the routes where we might strengthen the fleets,’ he said at City Hall in Jakarta on Wednesday. According to Welfizon, the four locations are favourites for residents of Jakarta and its surroundings to spend the holiday with family. Therefore, the fleet additions are to keep waiting times in check and to anticipate crowding at stops. In addition to intra-city tourist routes, Transjakarta is also studying the possibility of adjusting fleets for TransJabodetabek services, such as routes to Alam Sutera and Bogor. The additions will be adjusted according to the demand on the ground. ‘We will look at the demand and then adjust the number of fleets according to the needs,’ he said. He urged the public to plan their journeys well and to utilise public transport during the Lebaran holiday to reduce congestion at tourist points. On Eid, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government plans to make all public transport services free. From LRT, MRT, JakLingko to Transjakarta, the public can use them at no cost. ‘So in the Transjakarta system, MRT and others, if Rp0 there must still be a value. That is why it is made Rp1. Actually Rp1 and Rp0 are not different for passengers,’ he said. He explained that the electronic money card system still requires a rupiah amount to allow transactions to be processed. Therefore, the Rp0 tariff is technically changed to Rp1. ‘Because there must still be rupiah read and deducted in the system, Rp0 is converted to Rp1,’ said Welfizon. In other words, for the public the service remains free, but the payment system records Rp1 so that transactions can proceed normally.
