Transjakarta to adjust operating hours during Lebaran
Transjakarta’s Chief Executive Welfizon Yuza said the adjustment is based on experience in previous years when serving major religious days. ‘Learning from our experience serving on major days, usually on Eid day, we adjust operating hours,’ he said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday. The move is also to give all staff, especially drivers, the opportunity to perform the Idul Fitri prayers. He explained that in the morning people generally perform the Idul Fitri prayers in their own communities and visit family. ‘So we expect to start operations at around 09:00 or 10:00. Usually the visitations start at 10:00 or even after Zuhr. So we will adjust the operating hours accordingly,’ he said. Regarding Ramadan, Welfizon said the company will waive service charges for all transport modes during Ramadan. ‘So we just wait for the announcement, how many days, on what date, we will see. But the Governor of DKI Jakarta has already stated and repeated in several doorstop interviews that it will be free (Transjakarta service charges),’ he said. Welfizon stated that waiving transport service charges is part of the Jakarta Provincial Government’s commitment on religious holidays. Regarding the date the charge waivers will take effect, Transjakarta is still awaiting a Decree from the Head of the Jakarta Department of Transportation. ‘The date, of course, we will follow from the Department of Transportation. There will be a head’s decree. We wait. Whether it will be on 1 Syawal (20 March 2026) or on 1 and 2 [Syawal], we will see,’ he said. Regarding the Rp1 charge, Welfizon described it as a system formality to indicate the transfer of rupiah. ‘In the system at TJ, MRT and others, 0 must still have a value, hence it becomes Rp1. Rp1 and 0 are not very different, but technically, because there must be rupiah transferred from the card, the conversion from 0 to Rp1 occurs,’ he said.
