Transjakarta Reviews Fare Increase After 21 Years at Rp 3,500
Transjakarta’s CEO, Welfizon Yuza, revealed that the company is currently reviewing a potential fare increase. He noted that Transjakarta’s fares have not risen for 21 years.
Welfizon made this statement during a meeting with Commission B of the Jakarta DPRD at the DPRD Building in Central Jakarta on Thursday (23/4/2026). According to him, the Transjakarta fare has been Rp 3,500 since 2005.
“Regarding the fare increase, this is naturally in the domain of the executive or legislative branches, but we have already conducted a study on the fare increase, which is still at Rp 3,500 since 2005, so approximately 21 years,” said Welfizon.
He compared it to Jakarta’s provincial minimum wage (UMP), which has already experienced increases. According to him, the Jakarta UMP increase from 2005 to now has been around eightfold.
“If we look at 2005, the UMP was still Rp 800,000, now our UMP is around Rp 6,000,000, the increase has been 7-8 times, but our fare has held steady for 21 years,” he stated.
In addition, Welfizon mentioned that the company is also reviewing new fares for Transjabodetabek. The Transjabodetabek fares will be adjusted after undergoing a three-month trial period.
“This includes our current study on fares to the airport and also Transjabodetabek,” said Welfizon.
“Because as conveyed by Mr Governor, for the airport this is a trial fare for three months, so currently we are preparing the fare adjustment that will later be officially announced by Mr Governor,” he added.
