Transjakarta Halts Operations of Smoke-Emitting Bus at Pancoran
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has temporarily suspended operations of its DMR 715 bus fleet on Corridor 9 (Pinang Ranti-Pluit) after a vehicle emitted smoke at Pancoran Bus Stop in South Jakarta on Saturday (14/2).
"This measure was taken to carry out a comprehensive check and ensure every unit meets strict roadworthiness standards before being permitted to resume serving passengers," said Transjakarta's Head of Public Relations and CSR Department, Ayu Wardhani, in Jakarta on Monday.
She explained that the smoke from the rear engine compartment was caused by a radiator leak. She confirmed that the incident was swiftly handled by field officers. All passengers were safely evacuated to the bus stop area and transferred to the next available bus.
"PT Transjakarta extends its sincerest apologies for the technical disruption involving the DMR 715 bus fleet, owned by operator Damri, on Corridor 9 (Pinang Ranti-Pluit) at Pancoran Bus Stop on Saturday (14/2) at 13:33 WIB," Ayu said.
Transjakarta is currently conducting an in-depth internal investigation and inspecting 59 articulated gas-fuelled Zhongtong buses, with particular focus on their cooling systems.
"We are committed to zero tolerance for any neglect of technical standards in order to guarantee the safety and comfort of passengers as our top priority. All affected fleet units will undergo a technical audit before returning to service," Ayu affirmed.
