JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) is pursuing the operation of a new Transjakarta route to Soekarno-Hatta Airport ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026. The new route will serve the Blok M–Airport (SH2) corridor as an additional service alongside the Kalideres–Airport (SH1) route which has already been operating. Transjakarta’s Chief Executive Welfizon Yuza said administrative and technical preparations are ongoing. Transjakarta has recently met with Angkasa Pura to discuss operational cooperation last week. ‘A draft memorandum of understanding (MOU) has also been signed by Transjakarta and is now in the process of being signed at Angkasa Pura,’ he said, quoting an official statement, Thursday (5/3/2026). However, there are several adjustments being discussed, particularly regarding traffic flow management in terminal areas and integration with airport internal modes such as Kalayang which serves inter-terminal transfers. ‘Transjakarta will push for faster approvals at the Ministry of Transportation after the MOU process is completed. The target is for the Blok M–Airport route to be operational before Lebaran to accommodate the surge in mobility during the mudik season,’ he said. He also stated that Transjakarta will operate orange low-entry Metrotrans units with low floors to support this service. These buses are considered more passenger-friendly for travellers with suitcases or baggage because boarding and alighting are easier. The Blok M–Airport (SH2) route is planned to traverse the Sudirman corridor, ascend via Semanggi, pass the MPR/DPR complex, then enter the toll road toward the airport. Meanwhile, the Kalideres–Airport (SH1) route will continue to operate as usual. Regarding the terminal endpoints at the airport, Transjakarta is still coordinating with the operator to determine the stop location, given restrictions on vehicles entering directly to each terminal in order to reduce congestion. ‘The high use of private vehicles to the airport is one of the reasons behind strengthening this service. From around 50 million airport passengers last year, the majority still used private vehicles, so access from the toll gate to the airport area is often congested,’ he explained. Welfizon also explained that operating hours, for now, will follow the regular pattern from 05:00 to 22:00 WIB. Adjustments may still be possible by looking at flight patterns, particularly domestic flights which are typically busier at midday during the mudik period. Regarding fares, the Blok M–Soekarno-Hatta Airport route will continue to follow Transjakarta’s current regular fares, namely Rp 3,500 and Rp 2,000 according to service time.
