TransJ routes resume normal operations after Lenteng Agung road collapse
The collapsed road section in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, has reopened after being covered with steel plates. Transjakarta routes D21 and 4B have resumed normal operations. Detikcom observed at the scene on Friday, 29 May 2026, at 17:00 WIB, that Transjakarta buses were passing through the area. Other road users were also moving freely after traffic was fully reopened. Since 15:20 WIB, traffic police and transport officials had reopened the road. Drivers slowed down as the collapsed section was covered with steel plates, causing congestion in the area. “Routes D21 (Lebak Bulus-UI Depok) and 4B (ST Manggarai-University of Indonesia) have resumed normal service without diversions,” stated Transjakarta in a post on its official X account, as reported by Detikcom on Friday, 29 May. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Water Resources Agency (SDA) will repair the collapsed road on Lenteng Agung Road in South Jakarta from tonight. Santo, Head of South Jakarta SDA Sub-District Office, said initial safety measures had been implemented by installing temporary steel plates over the collapsed section. “Initial safety measures have been completed with temporary steel plates. Permanent repairs are scheduled overnight to ensure optimal work without major traffic disruption,” Santo said when contacted on Friday, 29 May. Santo explained that the 3-metre-wide collapse was likely caused by deterioration of the old underground water channel structure. He said the pipeline’s condition had degraded due to aging infrastructure and heavy rainfall. For permanent repairs, SDA will replace the old pipeline with a 2x2 metre concrete box culvert spanning 16 metres. Work is expected to take three days, with the schedule adjusted based on on-site conditions. “Permanent repairs will involve replacing the channel with a box culvert. We aim to complete the work as quickly as possible while ensuring construction quality and road user safety,” he added.
