Trakindo wins $175m order

PEORIA, Ill.(Reuter): Caterpillar Inc said Tuesday its
Indonesia dealer, P.T. Trakindo Utama, secured a mining equipment
contract worth more than US$175 million with P.T. Newmont Nusa
Tenggara.

P.T. Newmont is a joint venture company, whose operating
partner is Newmont Gold Co.

Most of the products will be manufactured in Decatur, East
Peoria, Joliet and Aurora, Ill. Delivery of the machines is
scheduled to begin this fall and continue through 2002.
Products include track-type tractors, motor graders, wheel
loaders and mining trucks.

Caterpillar said the contract includes extensive product
support agreements between Newmont and Trakindo. These agreements
guarantee certain operating and maintenance costs as well as
machine availability.
