Trains Still Running Slowly Near Sasaksaat Tunnel Due to Landslide Effects
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI Bandung Operational Region (Daop) 2 has confirmed that the Maswati-Sasaksaat railway section, impacted by a landslide on Wednesday afternoon (1/4/2026), can now be traversed by trains at limited speeds from Thursday (2/4/2026) early morning. Bandung Daop 2 Public Relations Manager, Kuswardojo, stated that the Maswati-Sasaksaat section has been passable by trains since today at 03:20 WIB. The evacuation process for the KA Ciremai train from Semarang Tawang to Bandung via Cikampek and the cleaning of the track from landslide materials have also been completed. “We have successfully completed the entire process of evacuating the KA Ciremai facilities and clearing the track of landslide materials. As of Thursday, 2 April 2026 at 03:20 WIB, the Maswati-Sasaksaat line can once again be traversed by trains,” said Kuswardojo in a press release quoted on Thursday (2/4/2026). The first train to successfully cross the section was the KA Parahyangan, with the implementation of limited speed. This procedure is very important as a precautionary step to ensure the track condition is truly safe to pass. Kuswardojo added that although the line can now be traversed, the normalisation process is still being carried out by field officers. This effort aims to accelerate full recovery so that train journeys can return to normal speeds. “We are still carrying out the track normalisation stage gradually. Our focus is to ensure all safety aspects are met, so that in the near future this line can be traversed at normal speeds,” he added. KAI Daop 2 Bandung also appreciates the hard work of all field personnel who have worked tirelessly since the incident occurred. Synergy among teams has been key in accelerating the evacuation and track recovery process. With the reopening of the Maswati-Sasaksaat line, it is hoped that train journeys in the Daop 2 Bandung area can run smoothly again. “We still urge all customers to pay attention to the latest information regarding train journeys and to always prioritise safety in every trip,” he concluded.
