Tragedy in North Jakarta: Younger Brother Fatally Strikes Elder Brother with Hammer

A man with the initials MAR (21) suffered a tragic fate. He died at the hands of his younger brother, MAH (16).

This bloody incident occurred in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Tuesday (24/2/2026). The victim, MAR, died after being struck in the head with a hammer.

The teenager with the initials MAH in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, is now dealing with the police after striking his own older brother, MAR (21), in the head with a hammer. Police are currently investigating the motive behind the perpetrator’s heinous act.

“We are still conducting an investigation and delving into the actual motive of the perpetrator to the point that he could carry out such a heinous act against his older brother with the initials MAR (22),” said the Head of the Child Protection Unit of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the North Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Ni Luh Sri Arsini, as reported by Antara, Wednesday (25/2).

The incident was reported to have occurred in the Kelapa Gading area, North Jakarta, on Tuesday (24/2) afternoon. Police are conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of the victim’s death.

“The victim is still undergoing an autopsy, the results have not yet been released,” she added.

Initial Suspicions Regarding the Motive for the Murder

Kompol Sri revealed initial suspicions about the motive for the murder. Before the bloody incident occurred, MAH is said to have harbored resentment in his heart.

The police’s initial suspicion is that the incident was triggered by a family problem. MAH is suspected of feeling envious of the victim because he often received attention from their parents.

“Their mother runs a business outside the home, and their father lives separately from them,” she said.
