Traffic Volume on Trans-Sumatra Toll Road Reaches 138,029 Vehicles During 2026 Lebaran Exodus
Vehicle traffic on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) continued to increase during the 2026 Lebaran exodus movement. Hamdani, Acting EVP Secretary of PT Hutama Karya (Persero), reported that on 16 March 2026, traffic volumes rose significantly on major segments, particularly on inter-city corridors and routes to urban centres.
“This situation reflects growing public mobility ahead of the peak 2026 Lebaran exodus period, following the commencement of the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy yesterday (16/3),” stated Hamdani on Tuesday (17/3).
He explained that cumulatively, total daily traffic on operational toll segments reached 138,029 vehicles, an increase of 55.54% compared to normal traffic levels.
“This increase reflects heightened public movement with more people travelling earlier before the Lebaran holiday. Continuous monitoring is being conducted as part of Hutama Karya’s commitment to ensure toll road services remain safe, smooth, and comfortable for all users,” he added.
Specific toll segment performance on 16 March 2026 included:
The Terpeka (Terbanggi Besar–Kayu Agung) toll recorded 19,789 vehicles, up 60.30% from normal traffic. The Palindra & Indraprabu (Palembang–Indralaya–Prabumulih) toll recorded 21,997 vehicles, up 74.88%. The Betung–Tempino–Jambi toll recorded 9,318 vehicles, up 24.57%. The Bengtaba (Bengkulu–Taba Penanjung) toll recorded 1,827 vehicles, up 18.87%. The Permai (Pekanbaru–Dumai) toll recorded 17,834 vehicles, up 27.24%. Hutama Karya urged all road users to plan their journeys carefully, particularly those beginning travel earlier before the Lebaran break. Drivers were advised to observe traffic signs and speed limits, maintain safe distances, ensure vehicles and drivers are in good condition, and rest at nearby rest areas when feeling tired or drowsy.
