Traffic Police Prepare Vehicle Inspection Checkpoints for Eid Homecoming Season
Jakarta (ANTARA) — The National Traffic Police Corps (Korlantas) is preparing vehicle inspection checkpoints for passenger transport during the 2026 Eid homecoming season to ensure passenger safety.
Korlantas chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, whilst inspecting a checkpoint location at Kilometre 81 of the Cikampek-Palimanan (Cipali) Toll Road in West Java, said inspections would focus on buses and travel vehicles, covering vehicle roadworthiness, driver health, and administrative documents such as driving licences and vehicle registration.
“The top priority is passenger buses and travel vehicles because they carry large numbers of people. Vehicles must be roadworthy, drivers must be healthy, and all documentation must be complete,” he said, as quoted from a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He said each regional police command (Polda) would set up one checkpoint at a rest area to ensure safety standards are met from the outset of journeys.
Inspections, he added, would be carried out collaboratively involving police, health workers, the Ministry of Transport, and other relevant stakeholders.
During the visit to Kilometre 81 of the Cipali Toll Road, he said the inspection was to ensure readiness of security arrangements for this year’s homecoming traffic flow.
“The state is present to ensure homecoming journeys proceed safely until people reach their destinations,” he said.
On the same occasion, PT Jasa Raharja president director Muhammad Awaluddin said Jasa Raharja would establish an integrated service post at Kilometre 81 of the Cipali Toll Road as part of 25 service posts stationed along national homecoming routes.
“The integrated service post will collaborate with all stakeholders assigned to Kilometre 81, positioned as a checkpoint station,” he said.
The integrated service posts will support driver health checks and provide information on homecoming routes, accident-prone spots, and potential traffic congestion to reduce accident figures during the homecoming period.
Meanwhile, Directorate of Toll Roads director at the Ministry of Public Works Dedi Gunawan confirmed that infrastructure repairs on the Cipali Toll Road section, including pothole repairs, are targeted for completion by at least seven to ten days before Eid.
“This is one of our efforts to prevent vehicle accidents,” he said.
In addition, he said monitoring posts would also be set up at rest areas and major national routes.
