Cilegon — The Traffic Police (Korlantas) of the Indonesian National Police, in collaboration with the Banten Regional Police, is ensuring the smooth flow and safety of the 2026 Eid homecoming through various traffic management measures and strict supervision at toll roads and several ferry terminals.

The Head of Korlantas, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, in Cilegon on Wednesday morning, stated that Operation Ketupat is a humanitarian operation with coverage extending beyond ferry terminals to include toll routes.

“This evening, traffic management measures have been implemented to facilitate the flow of homebound travellers from Jakarta towards Sumatra and the Trans Java route. Inter-agency collaboration and coordination is running optimally, and tomorrow at 12:00 WIB a national one-way system for homebound traffic will be enforced,” said Agus.

The Head of Korlantas confirmed that current security and public order conditions, as well as safety, security, order, and traffic flow remain monitored and under control without any significant incidents.

“We hope the state can continue to ensure that the homecoming journey and return flow proceed smoothly, as this is a journey filled with happiness for people yearning for their hometowns,” he expressed.

Meanwhile, the Banten Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Hengki, confirmed that conditions at several ferry terminals within the province’s jurisdiction remain under very good control. At Bandar Bakau Jaya Ferry Terminal, the parking lot capacity for vehicle categories 7, 8, and 9 can still accommodate approximately 1,200 vehicles.

“Remaining vehicles in parking lots range between 500 to 600 units and it is expected that all can be transported this evening,” explained the Police Chief.

Smooth conditions are also being observed at Pelindo Ciwandan Ferry Terminal. The Police Chief reported that queues of vehicle categories 5B and 6B as well as motorcycles remain minimal, with vehicle loading reaching only four of the 12 lanes prepared by personnel.

Congestion is also not apparent at Merak Ferry Terminal, particularly at Wharves 1 through 7. Traffic conditions in the area are running smoothly without accumulation in parking lots. Each docked vessel is ensured to directly transport vehicles to Bakauheni, Lampung.

At the conclusion of his statement, the Banten Police Chief expressed hope that the 2026 homecoming period will continue to run safely and smoothly thanks to synergy between the National Police, the Armed Forces, and all stakeholders.

“We also urge the public to continue complying with traffic regulations and following instructions from field personnel, and invite all homebound travellers to jointly maintain order, prepare journeys properly, and prioritise safety throughout the journey,” concluded the Police Chief.
