The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) will implement a nationwide one-way traffic system on Wednesday, 18 March, during the sixth day of Operation Ketupat 2026 ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

“I have coordinated with the Minister and the Managing Director of PT Jasa Marga that the peak homecoming traffic is estimated to occur on 18 March. On that date, between 10 AM and 12 PM, we will implement the national one-way system for homebound traffic,” said Head of Korlantas Polri Major General Agus Suryonugroho at the KM 57A Rest Area on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, West Java, on Monday evening, 16 March.

“When traffic technology infrastructure and accounting systems can manage the flow, it may also change to a national one-way or phased one-way system, which we will announce accordingly,” he added.

Regarding whether the national one-way system will also be applied during the return traffic period, he stated this has not yet been decided.

“We will reassess the return traffic. However, at present, traffic conditions are reasonably controlled,” the two-star general said.

Earlier, Agus stated that in managing this year’s homecoming traffic, the National Police has prepared various dynamic Traffic Engineering Management (MRLL) scenarios applied situationally based on real-time field conditions. Several schemes prepared include contraflow lanes, local one-way systems, and national one-way systems.

Based on evaluation and coordination with various parties, the peak homecoming traffic is estimated to occur on 18 March. However, if congestion parameters are met earlier, traffic engineering schemes will be implemented sooner.

The one-way toll road system will be applied in the first phase from KM 70 to KM 236 of the Trans-Java toll road. This scheme is expanded from the previous year, which was only applied up to KM 188.

“If congestion continues, the scheme will be immediately extended to KM 414,” he said.
