Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho stated that the vehicle congestion occurring on the Mohamed Bin Zayed or MBZ toll road section is only temporary.

When met at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday, he said that the congestion is usually caused by problematic vehicles such as those running out of oil, minor accidents, and holiday travellers sleeping on the roadside due to fatigue.

Therefore, this congestion is temporary and continues to be handled by officers.

“It is only temporary. After we provide service, we have a dispersal team, we approach them, we wake them up, and we get things moving again. So, it’s only temporary because sometimes the condition of road users’ vehicles also gets stuck and so on,” he said.

He also advised holiday travellers who will be journeying to ensure their vehicle conditions and prepare their physical state before driving.

“Readiness from the driver or the one steering, including what time you drive, you must stop every three hours. Where to stop, at which rest area, this has been informed from the start,” he stated.

Based on the X social media account of Jasa Marga @PTJASAMARGA monitored by ANTARA, the MBZ toll road was reported as congested.

“At 12.05 WIB #MBZ_Viaduct Tambun KM 19 - KM 21 towards Cikampek DENSE, traffic volume density. Tambun KM 22 - Cibitung KM 25 DENSE, traffic volume density,” read the Jasa Marga post.

In addition, from the thread of that post, Jasa Marga stated that the MBZ toll Cikarang Barat KM 29 - KM 30 towards Cikampek and Cikarang Barat KM 33 - Cibatu KM 35 also experienced congestion due to traffic volume.

Previously, on Monday (16/3), Jasa Marga recorded a vehicle volume leaving Jakarta through the MBZ toll that surged up to 101 percent.
