National Traffic Police Chief (Kakorlantas) Irjen Agus Suryonugroho has emphasised that Operation Ketupat 2026 is a humanitarian operation that reflects the presence of the state and the National Police (Polri). Through synergy and collaboration with stakeholders, he has ensured that all police personnel are ready to serve the public during Ramadan and the Islamic month of Shawwal leading to Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

“Operation Ketupat 2026 is a humanitarian operation. Operation Ketupat is not merely a traffic operation, nor is it solely about securing the exodus and return flows of travellers; rather, it represents the state’s presence and Polri’s presence among the people to ensure that the series of events during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr proceed safely and orderly. Safety in the criminal realm and smooth flow in traffic management,” stated Irjen Agus.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has established the tagline for the 2026 homecoming season: “Safe Homecoming, Happy Families”. This tagline has been selected as the primary spirit guiding all Polri personnel in providing services to the public.

“This tagline comes from the National Police Chief, so that Polri’s presence resolves issues during Operation Ketupat. Of course, the state is present to safeguard the journey home. Homecoming is a family story. Our duty is to protect it. Homecoming is not merely about travel, but about returning safely,” said Irjen Agus.

Irjen Agus identified five critical clusters that must be secured to ensure safety and comfort during the inbound and return flows for the 2026 Eid celebrations. These include toll roads, national highways or district roads, ferry ports, places of worship, and tourist attractions. These have become special areas of focus in preparations for the smooth execution of Operation Ketupat.

“We have identified and secured tourist destinations across Indonesia, including routes leading to these tourist sites and alternative routes. Similarly, airports, terminals, and railway stations are also under our security,” said Irjen Agus.

Irjen Agus stressed that Operation Ketupat is not merely about securing travel to villages, but about ensuring the public travels safely when departing, remains safe during family gatherings, and returns home safely and happily.

“For us, it is quite simple: Operation Ketupat means safe departure and safe return. Therefore, we urge personnel in the field with this spirit—let us protect every journey undertaken by the public,” he explained.

The National Traffic Police Chief also emphasised the importance of synergy and collaboration with all stakeholders in ensuring the success of Operation Ketupat. The Traffic Police Corps will provide maximum service in the field, including through the use of various technologies.

“We arrive early and leave last. We work before congestion occurs, we work before unfavourable conditions develop, and Polri is present to provide security against crime and to ensure traffic safety and order,” concluded Irjen Agus.
