The Head of the Indonesian National Police’s Traffic Command (Kakorlantas), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, revealed that 28% of vehicles have already left Jakarta on the fourth day of Operation Ketupat 2026. Approximately 72% of the predicted 3.5 million vehicles remain to depart from the capital.

“From the projected 3.5 million vehicles that will depart for Trans-Java routes, West Java, Cikupa in Banten, and Sumatra, currently 28% have already left Jakarta. Therefore, we are still managing approximately 72% of the remaining traffic,” stated Inspector General Agus during an inspection at KM 57 A on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road on the evening of Monday, 16 March 2026.

Inspector General Agus explained that a national one-way system is expected to be implemented on 18 March. The one-way measures will be enforced around 10:00 or 12:00, adjusted according to the volume of traffic.

“The peak of the mudik exodus is estimated to occur on 18 March. So on that date, between 10:00 and 12:00, we will implement the National One-Way system for outbound traffic,” he said.

Inspector General Agus also described various traffic management measures, including functional toll diversions at several locations to help distribute traffic flow.

“There will also be functional toll diversions on the South Japek route. This is highly strategic for dispersing traffic during the return journey, so the routes from Sadang to Deltamas to Setu can be utilised. This includes Bocimi, Parungkuda to Karangtengah, so the arterial road at Cibadak can be relieved of congestion,” he explained.

“This also includes the Solo-Jogja route, with diversions from Probolinggo to Besuki to Paiton, and from Semarang-Bawen to Ambarawa, which have already been activated,” he added.

Operation Ketupat 2026 is scheduled to run for two weeks, from 13 to 25 March 2026, under the theme of “Safe Mudik, Happy Family”.
