Traffic Police Chief: Only 25 Per Cent of Vehicles Have Left Jakarta
CIKAMPEK — The Head of Police Traffic Operations (Kakorlantas) Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho reported that the exodus traffic flow through the third day of Operation Ketupat 2026 remains under control. Vehicle movements from Jakarta towards major exodus destinations are proceeding relatively smoothly.
Monitoring conducted by the Traffic Operations Command (Korlantas) shows that vehicles departing Jakarta via toll roads towards the Trans Java corridor, Bandung, and Sumatra have only reached approximately 25 per cent of the total potential exodus traffic flow this year.
“We report to colleagues that current traffic flow is sufficiently under control. There is no congestion apparent yet. However, those on toll roads currently represent approximately 25 per cent of vehicles that have already left Jakarta, heading towards the Trans Java corridor, Bandung, or Sumatra,” said Agus during a press briefing at the Korlantas Command Centre in Cikampek, West Java, on Sunday (15 March 2026).
He stated that monitoring of exodus traffic is also conducted directly alongside the National Police Chief in various regions, including East Java. Traffic conditions on toll roads, arterial roads, terminals, and stations remain relatively under control with the presence of security personnel at various points.
Agus emphasised that Operation Ketupat focuses not only on regulating vehicle flow during the exodus and return journeys. The operation also aims to maintain public safety during the Eid al-Fitr period. “Most importantly, I report to colleagues that fatality casualties have decreased by 45 per cent,” said the Kakorlantas.
