Indonesia’s Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police is continuing to refine preparations ahead of the Eid al-Fitr homecoming travel in 2026. The Traffic Corps Chief, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, emphasised that the key to securing the flow of mudik and balik this year lies in strong inter-agency collaboration.

‘Esteemed ladies and gentlemen, the keyword for the success of Operation Ketupat is Collaboration, Synergy, and Togetherness. United we can and united we succeed,’ said Inspector General Agus at the launch of the mudik 2026 tagline and song at Menara Bank Mega, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.

On this occasion, Irjen Agus formally introduced the tagline ‘Mudik Aman, Keluarga Bahagia’ (‘Safe Mudik, Happy Family’). He stressed that the slogan is not merely cosmetic, but a representation of Polri’s commitment to safeguarding the humanitarian aspects of travellers heading to their hometown.

‘This is a commitment we uphold every day. What we secure is not only the flow of vehicles, but the journey of families,’ he said.

He noted that the sense of safety felt by travellers on the road is the fundamental foundation for full happiness when families reunite in their hometowns.

Irjen Agus explained that the Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has given clear guidance to coordinate with all stakeholders early. As part of the implementation, the Joint Decree (SKB) for mudik security has been agreed long in advance.

‘Following the directions of the Police Chief, together with stakeholders, with the permission of the Public Relations Division chief, we have been conducting coordination meetings from the outset. From the start we have conducted surveys. And indeed, together with stakeholders, when deciding the SKB, it used to be one week before the operation. Now, one month before the operation has already been decided,’ he explained.

Data-based Technology Utilisation

Not only cross-sector coordination, the Traffic Corps also prioritises technology infrastructure to monitor vehicle movements in real time. Data from various devices will be the main basis before deciding traffic engineering on the ground.

‘Therefore, in this Ketupat Operation, we and the stakeholders will introduce technology infrastructure. So our decisions on traffic engineering will be guided by data, supported by traffic counting. Whether from Jasa Marga, Jasa Raharja, or radar sources, when we decide, it will certainly be data-driven,’ he stressed.

The success of Operation Ketupat 2026 is recognised as heavily dependent on cross-sector synergy and the role of the media. This was evident by the presence of senior leaders from various agencies at the launch.

Several key figures were seen offering full support, including Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwangandhi, Jasa Marga CEO Muhammad Awaluddin, Jasa Raharja CEO Rivan Achmad Purwantono, and CT Corp Chairman Chairul Tanjung.

The event also served as a reunion and strengthening of solidarity with the attendance of former Kakorlantas such as Inspector General (Ret) Pudji Hartanto Iskandar (2012-2014), Inspector General (Ret) Istiono (2019-2021), and Inspector General (Ret) Firman Shantyabudi (2021-2023). Also present were senior officials from Korlantas and Directorate of Traffic Police from across Indonesia.

‘The state is present, all stakeholders are present. The safety of road users until they reach their destination is our priority,’ concluded Inspector General Agus.
