Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas Polri) Irjen Agus Suryonugroho, together with Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi and relevant stakeholders, held a joint prayer ceremony in advance of Operation Ketupat 2026. Following the event, Irjen Agus stated that he and his personnel would immediately deploy to the field to monitor the mudik traffic flow this evening.

The joint prayer ceremony was held at the Command Centre at km 29 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, West Java, on Thursday (12 March 2026). Also present were Jasa Marga Director Rivan A Purwantono, Jasa Raharja Director Muhammad Awaluddin, ASDP Director Heru Widodo, Road Traffic Director of the Transport Ministry Rudi Irawan, and various head officials of the National Police Traffic Corps.

“This afternoon, the National Police Chief and Military Commander also held a troop deployment ceremony. This means that this evening we are already in position, on standby at all points to monitor traffic flow and public order and security,” said Irjen Agus. Operation Ketupat 2026 will commence on 13-25 March 2026.

Irjen Agus explained that all operational response scenarios have been prepared together with stakeholders to ensure the state delivers a sense of security. This is particularly significant as Operation Ketupat 2026 coincides with the spiritual and social momentum of Ramadan, Idul Fitri, and Nyepi celebrations.

“Hopefully, with this joint prayer, Operation Ketupat 2026 will be even better. The state has extraordinary objectives for those heading back to their hometowns, because Operation Ketupat is a journey of longing,” he said.

On the same occasion, Jasa Marga Director Rivan A Purwantono assured that all toll road sections are ready to serve the mudik travellers, whose numbers are predicted to increase significantly on Friday (13 March). The Japek II South Toll Road has been declared ready for operational use.

“All Jasa Marga road sections are ready, and even in the last two days we have made sections operational, including Japek II South which we declare ready,” said Rivan firmly.

Regarding ferry crossings, ASDP has implemented an innovation through single ticketing for the Merak-Bakauheni crossing. This policy eliminates the executive ticket category and standardises all tickets as regular fares to allow more flexible vehicle movement at ports.

“So for all members of the public who wish to cross from Java to Sumatra, please choose your travel time flexibly as there will no longer be executive tickets. We will serve everyone well and direct them to all available berths,” explained ASDP Director Heru Widodo.

Regarding safety aspects, Jasa Raharja has mapped 1,700 accident-prone points along the mudik routes. Jasa Raharja Director Muhammad Awaluddin stated that 2,000 Jasa Raharja personnel have been placed on standby to escort the mudik travellers.

Concluding his remarks, Irjen Agus emphasised the importance of the media’s role in the success of this humanitarian operation. The media is expected to be a centre of accurate information for the public.

“We cannot work alone, therefore we must partner with the media. Let us work together so that Operation Ketupat 2026 runs exceptionally. Together We Can,” concluded Irjen Agus.
