JAKARTA (JP): The traffic flow on the Jakarta-Bogor-Ciawi
(Jagorawi) toll road was seen normal yesterday despite the
exodus of Jakartans to their hometowns for holidays.

Antara reported traffic flowing to Puncak looked very smooth,
without any backup of vehicles.

Thousands of Jakartans have been heading for Puncak resorts to
spend the holidays with their families and this usually causes
traffic congestions.

An official of PT Jasa Marga, the state-owned company which
manages toll roads, said 20,000 vehicles had passed over the
turnpike from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. yesterday.

The Public Relation Office head of PT Jasa Marga, David
Wijayatno said the peak days would probably be Dec. 30 and 31.

He estimated some 26,000 vehicles will head for Ciawi from
Jakarta daily between Dec. 29 and Dec. 31. Around 16,000
vehicles are expected to go to Cikampek every day during the same
period.

David said his office has set up several posts to monitor the
flow of traffic on the toll roads in Jakarta and its surround
areas. "We will give year-end prizes to drivers who enter the
toll gates at the Jakarta-Merak, Jagorawi, Cikampek and Cawang-
Cengkareng toll roads at 00:00 on Dec. 31. (sur)
