National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced that traffic management engineering measures will be implemented to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic during the 2026 exodus period. General Sigit stated that traffic engineering measures will be applied on toll roads and arterial routes.

“We will implement traffic engineering measures on toll roads and also on arterial routes,” said General Sigit following the Operasi Ketupat 2026 (Operation Ketupat 2026) troop review to journalists at Silang Monas, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (12/3/2026).

General Sigit outlined the specific measures to be implemented, starting from the installation of traffic cones, contra-flow systems, and one-way traffic patterns. Additionally, the police will utilise delaying systems and buffer zones in crossing areas.

“We will implement measures starting from the use of traffic cones, contra-flow systems through to one-way traffic. This can be either national one-way routes or local one-way routes. In crossing areas, we will also implement various engineering measures including the use of delaying systems and buffer zones,” he explained.

“Including first-come, first-served principles, especially during peak exodus times, so that those arriving first will depart first,” he added.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi explained the joint decision (SKB) regarding the implementation of Eid transportation services. The decision includes restrictions on vehicles with three or more axles or trucks during the 2026 exodus period.

“The Transport Ministry has prepared several policies regarding the implementation of Eid transportation services. These include, as mentioned by the Police Chief, restrictions on heavy vehicles through the issuance of a joint decision (SKB),” said Dudy.

“With the expectation that through these restrictions and the non-operation of vehicles with three or more axles, it will provide a sense of safety and comfort for those making their journey during the exodus,” he added.
